These tips are really useful!

I would like to share our green initiatives with you:

All our removals vehicles conform to the new european emissions standards (euro IV)
We actively recycle, reuse and reduce as much office waste as possible.
All our leaflets are printed on FSC paper using vegetable based ink.
Our advertising is delivered by foot or by bicycle where possible.
We encourage customers to go for recycled packaging.
We donate all unwanted furniture to charity.
We encourage all our staff to be environmentally aware.
We get our electricity from a Green Energy supplier.
As part of our commitment to save on paper, all our invoices are sent electronically.
All our cups of tea are made using an energy efficient kettle and we use mugs not plastic cups.
We continuously strive to find new ways of making our business as green as possible.
We have our very own wormery which takes care of all our office food waste!

There really is no excuse anymore, every office is able to do their bit. It is just a question of setting up a system and sticking to it.

I'm sure the food / drink machines in my previous company kept the water hot / boiled continuously, in fact the sandwhiches were chilled to the point of being nearly frozen - surely not the best use of energy.
The number of monitors left on standby overnight was shocking.
And which Companies will be first to insist all corporate vehicles are low-emission I wonder...

It's shocking at the amount of lights left switched on inside offices 24 hours of the day. Simply visit any city at late night on a Saturday and see lights blazing out of windows in empty office blocks and skyscrapers for absolutely no reason- we think there should be a new law to prevent this! What are everyone else's thoughts on this issue?

Just to add to the list about switching off.
Companies should invest in Power Management software to allow the switching off of devices centrally or automatically.

The should encourage the use of Web Meetings and Remote working (VDi) to cut down on travelling.

One other solutions is to use a Fax server software or online faxing instead of using manual fax machines which waste a lot of paper, not to mention the ink, electricity and cost of maintenance.

Additionally, one big difference many organisations could do is virtualisation their servers, to save on cooling, space, electricity etc.

See www.greeningwithit.co.uk for other ways I.T can help you save the environment whiles cutting costs.
